September 03, 2007—Construction Executive, the magazine for the business of construction, promotes modular as a lesson plan for schools on a budget. The Carroll School of Lincoln, Massachusetts, needed more classroom space quickly. The headmaster and planning team discovered Triumph SmartSpace, a company that provides schools with modular buildings designed to protect the health of the environment, children and teachers—as well as school budgets. The SmartSpace classroom can deliver 50 percent energy savings over normal costs for a traditional classroom. The building also serves as a teaching tool for students to learn about sustainability and building's impact on the environment.
"I've had school systems all over New England coming to visit the new classroom, and other schools are changing their building specifications to match it," Steve Wilkins, Carroll School headmaster, says. "The community and the occupants love it."
