The primary difference between permanent and portable applications for modular buildings is that in many cases these temporary buildings are not permanently affixed to real estate, are considered personal property or equipment, and can be depreciated over a short span.
The Parker School relocation project is a perfect example of portable modular in action. Thirty two (32) modules were used as a temporary school at Wachusett Valley School in Holden, MA while they renovated their permanent structure. When they completed their project and no longer had use for the space, Triumph moved the modules (including foundation removal and utilites) to Deven's, MA . The existing stucco siding was replaced with hardie plank siding, giving the buildng the appearance of a new school. The Parker School relocation project truly illustrates and sets the precedence of the reusability and portability of modular construction.
